some research activities
I was interviewed by a reporter for Christian Century almost a year ago concerning Mormon growth rates and am just now finding copies of the article he wrote available online. The paper I’m working on that was the basis for that interview (he came to my 2006 presentation in Portland on Mormon growth) is just about ready to go out for review. I’ll be more excited when it gets published in a peer-reviewed journal, but it is nice to see my research getting out to the media (though I sure wish more media outlets would do the kind of research that John Dart did for that article).
I have also been immortalized in a book by Richard Bushman in which he mentions, very graciously I might add, my scathing review of his book “Rough Stone Rolling” at the 2005 meeting of the Society for the Scientific Study of Religion.
I do still think Rough Stone Rolling is a great book to give to believing Mormons so they can begin to wrestle with their very questionable history. I was mean enough to Dr. Bushman in the review in person, so I’m just going to promote his book here. (nods to Rick Phillips for sending me this scan from the book)

You are moving right up! That’s cool. I was mentioned in the Morgan County News once. But they spelled my name Bard Andherson. If it wasn’t my picture I would have thought it was someone else. He got your name right and everything.

You know, Bard Andherson is a pretty cool name. If he had spelled my name in a derivation that cool (e.g., Rayd Cragoon), I think I would have preferred that!
