This is a short clip of Toren climbing some nets at Busch Gardens:
Every week at Toren’s gymnastics class he get stamps, one on each hand, one on each foot, and one on his belly. I got him to show me the stamp on his belly in this video:
At Toren’s daycare they apply sunscreen before the kids go outside, which we really like as we don’t want Toren to get sunburns. But, Toren hates sunscreen. It’s always a battle to get it on him. But our little problem solver came up with a new solution.
While shopping the other day he found a Spiderman umbrella, which Debi bought him so he wouldn’t want to play with our umbrellas anymore. When Debi grabbed some sunscreen to take to his daycare so they could apply it before they go outside, Toren saw her. Without saying a word he ran into his room and came back out with his new Spiderman umbrella. He opened it up and then told Debi, “Me not need sunscreen. Me have my Spiderman umbrella!”
Smart kid!
Debi was at the store with Toren shopping when Toren revealed a new negotiating technique he has developed. He has recently taken to wanting to walk around in the store so he can go look at things. And while he doesn’t say he wants everything, he regularly finds things that he does want and will say something like, “Me want this.” We don’t let him get most of the stuff he says he wants. So, when we say no, he has to try a different approach.
While Debi was shopping with him, Toren found some mints that look like the mints I occasionally buy. When Toren said he wanted them, Debi said no. So Toren said he “needed” them. Again, Debi said no. Then he pulled his trump card and said, “Toren’s Daddy needs them. Me need to buy them for Toren’s Daddy.”
