Summit Date: 2025-07-08
Summit Party: Ryan Cragun and Thom Pittz
This was the last highpoint on my quick tour through three Baltic countries – Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia. We left Riga early that morning, stopped at the highest point in Latvia, then headed north into Estonia. It was a couple of hours between the two highpoints.
Google Maps tried to send us all the way to the summit, but we saw several parking lots for the summit and stopped at one, thinking the map program was off. But, sure enough, there is a road all the way to the summit (we saw a delivery van pull up while we were there). I’m not sure if you can take the road up, but we ended up not taking it and walking up. Here’s the hike up:
The hike up isn’t really hard, but it is a bit steeper than you might think.
At the top is a large tower with a gift shop.

If you want to go up the tower, it will cost you something like 7 or 8 Euros. I paid it; my hiking partner did not. It’s 8 to 9 stories. The view from the top is quite impressive. You can see a lot farther from there than you can at the base, since the base is surrounded by trees. I did remember to take a panoramic video from the summit:
