Debi and I have never been the type to shy away from the label “geek.” We are geeks and we wear that label with pride: we like our science and we like our science fiction. But leave it to Debi to out-geek most other geeks by comparing her son to a Talosian:
Toren, looking rather Talosian-like
a Talosian, from Star Trek (Original Series, of course)
(You, too, can claim “hard-core geek status” if you new what a Talosian was without following the link to Wikipedia.)
Toren was laying on the couch next to his grandmother and was starting to wake up. Debi was sitting on the loveseat where she usually sits to feed him. I was standing over Toren waiting for him to wake up all the way so I could take him over to Debi to eat. Debi, short on sleep, proceeded to say, “Toren, if you want to eat, come walk over here…”
That’s all she got out before I busted out laughing.
She meant to say, “Toren, if you want to eat, you can’t just walk on over here, you’re going to have to convince one of them to bring you over.” It didn’t quite come out that way.
Darn Toren – 4 weeks and he can’t walk himself over to the boob!
Apparently no one was able to access the video of Debi’s Amazing Belly because I set it to private on Youtube. My bad! Next time, someone please tell me. You can access it now:
I’ve already posted a bunch of pictures of Toren sleeping. But I liked these… He will sleep for hours on us, but this was a new approach – he would squat next to us then lay his body on us. He slept for about 2 hours like this on Debi:
Toren on Debi
his meditation squat; not quite a Full Lotus, but he's only 3 weeks old...
Eventually Debi had to get up, so she passed him to me, where he slept for another hour or so:

While he was sleeping on me I tried to get a close-up of his face to show his facial hair:
Toren's facial hair; it's a little fuzzy, but you can see it
