This is footage from right after the last video I posted. Toren had tired of walking back and forth between Debi and I, so I started playing with him and got some good laughs from him:
While not technically his very first steps, these were among his first unaided steps. Basically what happened… One night when I was watching Toren alone (Debi had a late class), I was sitting on the ground and set him a few feet away from me, facing me. I then let go and told him to walk to me. He did. I repeated it a few times, then showed Debi when she got home later that night. The footage below is from a couple of days after that. He wasn’t walking on his own yet, but he was starting to take more risks walking at this point:

Debi and Toren went out to Utah at the end of April to attend a funeral. While out there, Toren picked up some knowledge of cars from his cousin, Ethan. His grandmary was kind enough to send some cars back:
For some reason I remain really impressed how quickly he picked up how to play with cars.
