Toren has a drinking problem
He likes to drink! He’s getting pretty good at drinking straight from a glass and from his sippy cup. We don’t have footage yet, but Toren is also now moving all over the kitchen in his walker.

playyard prison
Here’s Toren in his playyard prison: If you look close you’ll see that he has things pretty good in his prison. He has all sorts of toys, a boppy pillow, and even a full-size ergonomic keyboard. Both Debi and I have identical keyboards – they really are easier on your wrists. When I bought them,…

Hail the Conquering Hero
It’s the weekend before Christmas and I’m trying to get all of my grading done when Debi comes into the office and tells me that the clothes dryer is no longer working. It heats up, but it doesn’t turn. I was on track to have all of my grading done so I could relax a…

the saddest convict ever
While we were waiting for the doctor at Toren’s 6-month checkup I had an idea. If you know me at all, you should be saying to yourself at this point, “Oh no, what is he going to do to his son…” If you don’t know me, well, that’s what you should say. I mentioned a…

changing table jig
Almost from when we brought Toren home he has done little jigs on his changing table while we dress him and change his diaper. I finally caught him doing his jig on film: Another question for parents out there: Do your kids hate getting dressed (or did they at Toren’s age)? He’ll cry while we…

I’ve fallen and I can’t get up
This is a shot of Toren in that awkward stage where he is becoming mobile, but not enough to actually maneuver well:

Debi’s muscles
Debi walked into the office today while I was holding Toren. She was wearing a tanktop (yea Florida weather!) and I noted that I could see her ribs. I’ve been telling her that she needs to gain weight (yep, that’s a man telling a woman she needs to gain weight). She proceeded to try to…

speed eater
Okay, I have to admit I don’t know if this is unique or even if this is a good thing or bad thing, but Toren can devour a 2.5 oz tub of baby food lightning fast: Parents out there, is this normal? I don’t think he has suffered any ill effects from this, but it…

wrist thing and responding to name
Toren’s quirks are funny (okay, that seems redundant, to call a “quirk” funny when quirky can mean funny… I digress). He was coughing for attention for a while. Now, he does this funky thing with his wrist where he’ll grab something and pump his wrist up and down. I think it started when he was…
